Art and science have been intertwined subjects for as long as there has been education. Just consider how many universities have colleges of “arts and sciences.” And yet, in U.S. K-12 education there’s been a tendency to isolate art as an expendable subject, rather than one that when integrated, can deepen or strengthen students’ understanding of core curriculum.
